28th June - 5th July

Very enjoyable week - the cottage (Glenfruin Lodge) was just right for our requirements and in such a peaceful and attractive area.  Very comfortable and cared for.

Plenty to see and do - Hill House should not be missed and Glenarn Gardens is unexpectedly impressive.  A short drive south and Geilston Garden and Balloch Country Park provide very enjoyable walks.  A drive around Loch Lomond presents several good walks and tea stops as does a tour around the peninsula (great wool shop!).  A challenge of a climb at Dumbarton Castle gives great rewards.

We found train travel to Glasgow easy and efficient and really enjoyed visits to museums eg. Kelvingrove, Transport and Life and the Tall Ship, also the Lighthouse.

Local bicycle paths are great for safe pedalling and walking - we know the other end of the John Muir trail quite well, plus his reputation and life in USA.

Thank you once again.

Best wishes, Michael & Joan Whatling
