Lovely, comfortable and cosy cottage (Glenfruin Lodge). The bed is enormous and very sleep inducing. The weather has been very kind to us and we’ve both picked up some sun on our last day.
Recommend a visit to Balloch Castle Country Park – take a picnic if the weather’s good. The views of Loch Lomond are lovely. Glasgow by train from Helensburgh is good value £6.70 return & free parking too. The Hill House is worth a visit also. The Oak Inn in Balmaha does good food & beer.

Inveraray – Day tripA marvellous day out, Inveraray is on the western bank of Loch Fyne north of Arrochar beyond the ‘Rest and be Thankful’. The preserved buildings from the 1700s give an authentic insight into how people lived and worked in the north and west of Scotland. You can wander freely around the houses and farm buildings furnished with everyday objects from time gone by.
